One can buy new, lease new, or buy used. Each has benefits and trade-offs. Buying new usually costs a lot, but is an investment in a reliable car. Leased cars cost a lot, but remove concerns about devaluation and ensure a new car every 2-3 years. Used cars are a lot cheaper.

New cars devaluate quickly. Leased cars don't invest in an actual car. Used cars can be unreliable, and annoying/expensive repairs may be necessary.
